If you’re planning on attending Oktoberfest at the Aurora Soccer Club on October 5th, this post is for you! This is your 411 to the ultimate Oktoberfest fashion guide because you know you can’t just show up in any old outfit. What you wear is almost as important as the beer you drink! Check out our Oktoberfest must-haves below:
Ok ladies, time to have a little fun and get in touch with your German side! If you ask me, getting dressed up in traditional clothing will put you in the right mood for a fantastic day to get your beer drinking on! Not to mention dressing up is serious business if you're planning on attending an Oktoberfest event.
Ladies put on your Dirndl and get ready for some fun! A dirndl is a must-have for any female attending Oktoberfest. For those that may not know what a dirndl is, it’s made up of a blouse, bodice, and apron. Usually, this can be purchased as a set which is great if you're a novice. The bodice is supposed to fit like a glove, if you know what I mean…. Traditional dirndls are usually at knee level or longer but if you’re going for fun you may want to choose a shorter dirndl.
Shoes are traditionally comfortable and flat, but I know some of you will be busting out your heels for the full effect. Just make sure you can dance all night in whatever you wear!
The weather might be a little chilly but if you can pick up a traditional coat or sweater. They look gorgeous over a dirndl and add to the overall look.
Don’t forget to braid that hair and get your flower crown out for the perfect hair this Oktoberfest! That’s right ladies flower crowns aren’t just a Coachella thing! Ladies have been braiding their hair at Oktoberfest events for years!! Braids can be quite elaborate and really completes the entire look.
What are you waiting for? Go get your dirndl today!!!
Even if you’ve never been to Oktoberfest, there is one thing you probably already know about men's fashion. Say it with me now, Lederhosen! Yup, you got it Lederhosen which literally means leather pants. They say that men only need one pair for life, of course, unless that beer belly creeps up on you! There are really 2 choices for men when it comes to lederhosen and that is length and whether or not you want suspenders. I say go all the way and get those suspenders!! Lederhosen usually comes in 2 lengths shorts or ¾ leg length.
The popular choice for shirts is a red or blue checkered shirt, but if you want to go traditional then a crisp white shirt is just what you need. These shirts are button up and from my research, I’m understanding that wearing a t-shirt under your shirt is a big no-no for a traditional outfit!
Want to take your Oktoberfest outfit to the next level?! You can add a traditional felt hat for that extra special look. Why not go all the way and add a vest/waistcoat! You cannot go wrong with a stylish vest to really complete your look!
Lederhosen are short or knee-length leather breeches that are worn as traditional garments in German-speaking countries.
